Santa Maria della Salute

Zdravko Šotra’s biographical story of poet Laza Kostić and Lenka Dunđerski, played by Vojin Ćetković and Tamara Aleksić. The film dates from 2016 and the television version from 2017.

In August 2016, Karlovci welcomed the production of this story about poetry and love. During one shooting day, Vojin Ćetković played Laza Kostić at very different ages.

The local film map links one filming spot to the former house of architect Vladimir Nikolić, adding another chapter to the town’s screen history.

The theology school behind a street café

A street-café conversation in Santa Maria della Salute; behind it stands the Palace of the Church and National Funds, now the theology school.

The café tables occupy the foreground while the rusticated pale masonry, ochre window panels and iron fence of the Palace of the Church and National Funds stretch behind the characters. Now home to the theology school, the building supplies a recognisable Karlovci backdrop. Rather than an isolated monument, it becomes part of an inhabited street, giving the conversation a quiet public setting.

A café terrace on Branko Radičević Square

A café terrace in Santa Maria della Salute, with bentwood chairs, an open doorway and the funds palace across the street.

The wide shot opens the café onto the square: bentwood chairs face the pavement, while a small display of bottles marks the doorway. Across the street stands the Palace of the Church and National Funds. Unlike the closer conversation view, this composition shows how the terrace makes a private exchange part of the town’s public life.
